Maumelle is a nice area near Pinnacle Mountain State Park and minutes from Little Rock alongside the Arkansas River.  Due to its proximity to Little Rock, it's really busy.  Swimming isn't allowed, but there's lots of boating and fishing here.  You'll find lots of RV's, as it's probably a popular spot for those  passing through.  As a base for camping-less Pinnacle Mountain and Two Rivers City Park, it's solid though.

The area is well maintained.

I camp here frequently with my popup, just a quick getaway from LIT.

I agree that the place is well maintained, though I noticed last weekend that the individual garbage bins by each site will no longer be serviced.  Users will need to take their trash to a central dump spot.  No big deal.

Yes, it is crowded most of the year, but usually there are a few open spots.  In fact, I believe they holdout a certain percentage of their sites for walkup traffic.  Plenty of sites backs into pine thickets, but also plenty of riverside sites.

Oh, it seems they have a new pricing structure for their sites, with the least expensive being $20 per night.
