The Spring River is a popular retreat for fishing, camping, canoeing, kayaking and family fun. It’s clear, cold water supports healthy trout populations that draw anglers from across The Natural State and beyond.

However, some illegal activities along the river have increased dramatically during the last few years.

“What started innocently enough as a little Mardi Gras is getting out of hand,” said Fulton County Sheriff Walter Dillinger. “The past two summers, our office had reports of nude dancing and lewd behavior at points along the river.”

Dillinger’s office is teaming up with Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife enforcement officers to halt illegal behavior.

“Wildlife officers routinely work the river overtly and covertly, have access to canoes and kayaks, and are typically the only law enforcement directly on the water,” said Capt. Gary Mullins, enforcement supervisor with the AGFC. “Wildlife officers have full police authority, routinely make drug arrests and assist local authorities with other matters concerning the river. It just makes sense our officers deal with this situation, too. I am pleased the sheriff made this decision and look forward to working with his department as we resolve the problem.”

Officials will begin enforcing a no-tolerance policy Memorial Day weekend and continue through summer.

I went to Spring River over the Memorial Day Weekend.  We stayed at Riverside Resort and had no problems, its more chill.  Stopped by Many Islands and had to go through rode blocks to get there. Cops said some lady stabbed a man to death.  Many Island is like Mardi Grais with tents, way too crazy, unless your looking for that sort of thing.  Canoed the river Sat and Sun and saw a few cops in canoes, but they stuck out  in the crowd, and didn't mess with you unless you were littering, fighting, or flashing.  There was plenty of beer drinking and girls showing the ta-tas.  I definetly go back next year.

"Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink,
Thy will be drunk,
(I will be drunk),
At home as I am in the tavern.
Give us this day our foamy head,
And forgive us our spillages,
As we forgive those who spill against us,
and lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers,
For thine is the beer,
The bitter and the lager,
Forever and ever,
Barmen.”

I had heard that about the tatas.  Heard you pretty much couldn't go down Spring River anymore without seeing something weird.

Was up there this year for Memorial day and the law didn't seem to be present. Dead man's curve was still rowdy and fun, the kids loved the atmosphere here (no nudity but party goers) and except for the many island folks, everyone seemed fun.
